What's Been Said...

In last month's Ipsos Online Express Survey, we asked i-Say panelists a variety of questions about weather. Here are some interesting findings on the topic:

*Americans are most likely to say they enjoy...

  • Cool (49%)
  • Hot & dry (33%)
  • Breezy (27%)
  • Snowy (15%)
  • Cloudy (12%)

*Don't enjoy...

  • Hot & humid (51%)
  • Strong winds (39%)
  • Heavy rain (33%)
  • Thick fog (32%)
  • Snowy (31%)

Almost all of the panelists surveyed (97%) are familiar with the expression "under the weather". In addition, when waking up in the morning, the weather is one of the first things Americans (81%) will think of.

By the same token, more than half (60%) of Americans are aware of the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The results show that the majority of panelists (91%) believe that weather affects the way they feel. Specifically, they feel changes in weather alters mood (84%), general well being (73%), and behavior (67%).

(*Respondents were asked to select all that apply in their choice of weather).
